Port Elizabeth’s very own Mia Liyah is proving to be one of the most dynamic rising talents in the Eastern Cape. Known for her smooth blend of R&B, hip-hop, and alternative sounds, she’s been steadily building a name for herself both in the kasi and beyond. In late 2024, Mia Liyah released her debut EP Pieces of Me, a deeply personal and genre-bending project featuring standout tracks like Abyss, Haunted, and My Love. With production from Oakley 808, the project showcases not only her vocal ability but her emotional storytelling. Sonically, she brings a refreshing mix of styles — a touch of rockstar energy fused with a K-pop-influenced polish, giving her music a global, genre-fluid feel that’s rare in the local scene.
That momentum carried into 2025 when Mia took to the stage at the Splash Festival, performing at Kings Beach as part of a star-studded lineup. Her set, held at the Food Court Stage, was a bold statement: local talent from Nelson Mandela Bay deserves a spot on the biggest stages. Her performance was both polished and personal, a clear highlight for many in the crowd.
